Tell us about yourself, what you do, and some likes and dislikes. What brought you here?
Hi! I’m Lindsay Solmer, a social media manager and content creator. I love fashion, moodboards, traveling, scrolling Pinterest, and a dirty gin martini with blue cheese olives. I’m not a fan of sharks, bad WiFi, small talk, or Chardonnay. From a young age, I was obsessed with beautiful imagery. I’d spend hours flipping through my mom's fashion magazines, smelling the perfume samples, and folding pages that inspired me. That’s why I love sharing on Instagram—it's like curating my own personal magazine of everything that inspires me.
How did you get into such a multi-faceted career as an actress, model, blogger, and Social Media agency owner?
Honestly, one thing just led to another. I moved to NYC to study acting and, after finishing my degree, I started getting modeling opportunities. I didn’t expect to model, but I had done a bit as a kid, so it was an exciting shift. A lot of the gigs I booked were for brands needing models for social media, and as I shared more of that work on Instagram, more brands started reaching out. That’s how I entered the influencer world. Networking was key! Shoutout to my friend Tom, who helped me get my first social media client and sparked my entrepreneurial journey. Now, I’m back in B.C., Canada, creating content and running my company, Solmer Social.
With so much going on, how do you manage your time?
I’m all about “to-do” lists. Even small tasks help me feel in control, and checking them off feels great. I try to split my day between client work and my own content. Things don’t always go as planned, but I stay pretty go-with-the-flow, which keeps me from getting overwhelmed.
How do you balance time between Palm Springs and B.C.?
I lived in NYC for 10 years, but in 2022, I moved back to the west coast for a reset. I now split my time between B.C. and Palm Desert, where my family has a home. It’s been great spending more time with my family, and I’m cherishing those moments. The west coast feels like home, but I have another adventure brewing—stay tuned!
How does your style differ between B.C. and Palm Springs?
West coast style is super casual, which was hard for me at first because I love dressing up! In B.C., I lean toward classic, simple looks—Levi’s, a white tee, and a sweater over my shoulders with lots of jewelry. In Palm Desert, I bring out more color and prints, like dresses with cowboy boots or linen sets. I also have quite a few golf and tennis outfits, even though I’m not great at playing!
Where do you draw most of your inspiration?
I get a lot of inspiration from traveling, especially in Europe. I love sitting in cafes, people-watching, and soaking in the vibe. I also find tons of inspo on Pinterest—right now, I’m obsessed with seashells!
You lived in NYC for 10 years. How did that influence your personal style?
NYC definitely shaped my style. Growing up, fashion was limited, but moving to New York was like stepping into fashion heaven. I learned that I could dress to fit any mood. One day, I might want an all-black city girl look; the next day, I’m preppy or boho-chic. Fashion should be fun and fluid!
How did you style your Áine white watch? What do you love about it?
I styled my Áine white watch with a white and blue striped button-down dress, ballet flats, a Gucci Boston bag I “borrowed” from my mom, and classic black sunnies. I wore it while traveling upstate for my friend’s wedding—it was the perfect, chic, and comfortable look. The watch goes with everything, and it matches perfectly with my gold jewelry.
We’re heading to Palm Springs! Any secret spots or top recommendations?
Palm Springs is one of my favorite places to escape to! My go-to spot is The Colony Palms Hotel. They have an amazing poolside restaurant with great food and a relaxing vibe. For shopping, hit up El Paseo, followed by lunch and rosé—it’s the perfect desert day.
What’s been one of your most memorable career moments so far?
I think a standout moment was when one of my Instagram reels went viral and hit 12 million views. It wasn’t just the virality, but the realization that I could turn my passion into a business. That moment pushed me to start Solmer Social, and now I’m building my creative agency.
What’s a typical day like for you?
No two days are the same, but when I’m not traveling, I start with coffee, a quick workout, and my gratitude journal. Since most of my clients are east coast-based, I’m usually working by 7 a.m. I spend the first half of my day on client work and then focus on my content in the afternoon—taking photos, pitching ideas, or planning my feed. I love ending my day with a walk to the beach, followed by dinner and scrolling Pinterest while watching Netflix.
Any exciting projects or collaborations coming up?
Yes! I’m turning 30 in October and gearing up for my next big move. I’m also focusing on expanding my creative agency and diving into more UGC work—it’s a growing area in digital content creation!
