12 days of Holiday Movies

There’s a switch that flips every December. One minute we’re powering through deadlines and wrapping up the year, and the next we’re slipping into our cosiest socks, cancelling plans without guilt, and romanticising the art of doing absolutely nothing. It’s the season of soft lights, slow nights, and snack-fuelled movie marathons that feel like therapy.

Call it holiday hibernation. Call it main-character winter energy. Call it “text me only if you’re bringing chocolate” vibes. Whatever it is… we’re living for it.

And because the only thing better than being cosy is being effortlessly cosy, we curated the perfect 12-day countdown to Christmas Eve. Think nostalgic classics, chaotic favourites, new gems, and the ideal snack pairing for each. Twelve days. Twelve films. Unlimited vibe-setting.

Settle in. Press play. December just became your entire personality! Oh, and if you have a minute and feel like a new watch to keep track of time spent in front of Netflix, check out our Holiday Sale with up to 70% off here.

13 December – The Holiday
Think soft lighting, whimsical English cottages, Jude Law reading bedtime stories, and Cameron Diaz discovering her inner feelings. The Holiday is the cinematic equivalent of a warm hug and the exact energy we all need mid-December.
Pair it with: Hot chocolate topped with an irresponsible amount of whipped cream and a handful of marshmallows.

14 December – Love Actually
Messy, chaotic, emotional, iconic. Love Actually is the film you know you’ll roll your eyes at and then cry through anyway. It’s tradition. Hugh Grant dancing down the stairs, Emma Thompson’s silent heartbreak, Bill Nighy being Bill Nighy.
Pair it with: A mug of mulled wine and a tin of butter cookies that you promise you’ll “only have one” from.

15 December – It’s a Wonderful Life
A classic that reminds you to breathe, to soften, and to pay attention to the small miracles. If you don’t cry through at least 50 percent of it, we’re checking for a pulse.
Pair it with: A warm apple crumble and vanilla ice cream melting on top.

16 December – Elf
Pure childish joy. Buddy the Elf eating spaghetti with maple syrup feels wrong, but it’s also unhinged in the best possible way.
Pair it with: Cinnamon sugar popcorn and a peppermint latte.

17 December – Miracle on 34th Street
Soft, sweet, and full of heart. One of those films that wraps you in nostalgia and makes you believe in magic for two whole hours.
Pair it with: Gingerbread cookies and a chai latte (bonus points if the mug is oversized).

18 December – Home Alone (yes, all three)
Chaos. Christmas. Kevin McCallister outsmarting absolutely everyone. This is a commitment, so get comfortable.
Pair it with: A mountain of salted caramel popcorn and old school Coca-Cola in a glass bottle.

19 December – A Charlie Brown Christmas
Minimalist, tender, timeless. The soundtrack alone could carry December on its back. We’ve had it playing since the end of November.
Pair it with: Warm milk and honey, plus a square or two of dark chocolate.

20 December – The Muppets Christmas Carol
Possibly the best adaptation of Dickens ever created. Heartfelt, hilarious, chaotic, emotional… perfection at any age.
Pair it with: Mini mince pies and a hot toddy (or chamomile tea if you’re being wholesome).

21 December – The Snowman
If you haven’t cried while watching a snowman fly, we cannot help you. A Christmas essential that feels like childhood in film form.
Pair it with: Leftover turkey sandwiches and a mug of steaming tea.

22 December – Click & Collect
A newer entry in the festive line-up but hysterical from start to finish. One of those films that makes stress look strangely wholesome.
Pair it with: Crisps and dip, paired with a fizzy elderflower drink.

23 December – Bad Santa
Because Christmas doesn’t have to be all soft lights and romance. Sometimes you need a little chaos, a little edge, and a lot of inappropriate humour.
Pair it with: Nachos loaded with everything and an ice-cold beer (or a spiked hot cocoa for balance).

24 December – White Christmas
Elegant, nostalgic, timeless. The kind of film you watch with soft lighting, warm blankets, and maybe someone snoring gently next to you. If you haven’t seen it, let this year be the year.
Pair it with: Classic shortbread and a warm spiced latte.

Duvet dreams and cocoa steam,
A midnight snack, a festive theme.
Golden lights and silent nights,
Old films playing, heart feels light.
Tinsel glows, the fire’s low,
This is the season we enjoy things slow.
